Scott Devon is the creator and host of Beneath the Varnish, an in-depth podcast examining the classical art world, its enduring mysteries, and its contemporary evolution. Chair of the North Wales Art Foundation, Scott is a dedicated collector with a particular focus on the Caravaggisti. He has served as an art museum trustee and is an entrepreneur and philanthropist with longstanding involvement in cultural preservation.
His collection is housed at North Wales, a historic estate in Northern Virginia listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register, and formerly owned by renowned collector Walter P. Chrysler Jr. Beneath the Varnish brings together leading scholars, dealers, and conservators to bridge rigorous art-historical scholarship with public access. The series launches with "The Sleeper, or the Lost Caravaggio," featuring Jorge Coll of Colnaghi and recurring expert Professor David M. Stone, and will also spotlight a new international figurative art competition awarding $100,000 in prizes.
